With the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia) Regimental Headquarters being a building built from the stones of Monmouth Castle (birthplace of Henry V) and the town and areas links to him and the battle, it seemed only proper for a contingent of our soldiers to attend the Agincourt 600 ceremony at ‘Azincourt’ as well as the one held in the Castle grounds.
With Azincourt being so close to that other battlefield The Somme, especially during this centenary period of The First World War, it seemed pertinent to spend the day after reflecting on the lessons we can learn from this conflict as well as remembering those who fought there.
