108 (W) Fd Sqn(M) ventured to Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) for their second training weekend since lockdown was eased.
Based out of hardened infrastructure on the area they practised Combat Engineering, Recce/Fighting and Standing patrols, micro navigation of the training area and was supported by RHQ Troop Signallers and Chefs.
It is well known that SENTA has its own weather ecosystem that produces huge amounts of rain at times and again it didn’t disappoint with significant downpours throughout the weekend interspersed with a few rays of sunshine, 108 unperturbed continued in their Missions and Tasks supporting the 3 Royal Welsh Battlegroup (BG).
The weekend concluded with a clearance of a scatterable minefield (ScatMin) that had been laid on the track leading to the BG Headquarters. A safe lane had been identified and the small team set about laying explosive charges close to the visible notional mines, once fired they would either detonate the mines and or blow them out of the track clearing it for the BG to regain access to it.
A great weekend (even with the weather) was had by all, real Combat Engineering for the future Militiamen and women.
