Colonel Jones, Deputy Commander (Reserves) 8 Engineer Brigade, visited R Mon RE (M) personnel currently on Rotation 2 of Exercise RESOLUTE CASTLE in Romania. Colonel Jones a former Officer Commanding (OC) of 225 Field Squadron (Militia) was greeted by the Commanding Officer of The R Mon RE (M) and current OC of 225. Following a series of presentations by the OC and Troop Commanders, Colonel Jones was then escorted around three construction sites where he spoke to American and R Mon RE (M) Engineers.
Week 3 of Exercise RESOLUTE CASTLE has ended with significant changes to both 1 and 2 Troop construction sites, rifle ranges and familiarisation training. 1 Troop was split in order to take on an additional task constructing a Breaching Facility working with the US Navy Seabees. The remaining Troop members have secured the roof trusses and work has begun installing the metal cladding.
Meanwhile 2 Troop set an impressive pace block laying the Ops & Storage building with all 18 courses completed within 7 days. The workmanship has impressed the US Engineers upon inspection ready for the trusses to be fitted.
During the week Plant Operators from 225 Field Squadron (Militia) were also given familiarisation training on US Army plant machinery in order to assist with tasks in the near future. Rotation 2 were also treated to a range day using the American M4 Service Rifle and a shooting competition may well be on the horizon.
